The cafeteria at my college decided to close off one of the two cashiers to cup hoarders and make it part of an eco-cue: only those bringing their own cups or thermuses will be allowed to use this cue and the 2nd cashier , they’re also given a 4peso discount, around 20 cents of a dollar
At rush hour they serve 10 cups a minute; which is remarcable for a small coffee shop. But they´re under capacity; the shop is significantly cheaper than the alternative shops around the school, it’s also the closest to the smoker’s yard, the department of architecture, and where the newbies study. All of these are people who consume more coffee than the average students, plus, it’s got better coffee too.

It’s the era of extraordinarily egregious Eco-elitism.

I´m yet to use it, but if I do use it, I’ll selectively overtake the people that have the loudest most obnoxious conversations in the shop

Line 2: “Go to the Eco-line and save. TIME!”
Punctuation and formatting are ¡¡IMPORTANT!!
Also, they could’ve gone with Econo-line for Oppo points.

This makes more sense than the HOV lanes near me where they take a 3-lane section of a highway that connects 2 other highways and make the 3rd lane an HOV lane only during rush hour. Because limiting the amount of road that people can use during the busiest traffic of the day is exactly what should happen.
I know they want to encourage carpooling but the reality is most people around here live and work in different parts of town and arranging carpools is difficult. Just this morning, I watched every single car go by in the HOV lane with no passengers.
At your cafe however, all people have to do is bring their own cup to get in the speedy lane. Easy to do that.

I’m fascinated at the undercapacity of the store, literally anything they do with the line makes it worse...I was thinking that they should open an Americano/esspresso/tea counter on the opposite side of the store and divide the people that want a simple product and a coffee with milk appart to save everyone time.

I’m thinking there’s some apps to organize carpools, but im not exactly keen on letting anyone into my car.

my gas station sells 89 cent coffees to any one who brings their own cup. because cups are STUPID expensive. its not just eco friendly it saves money too.

Having an eco line for people bringing reusable cups is a brilliant idea. I hope this becomes more mainstream.

I suspect they are a noticable impact, specially the smaller cups. But if this store wanted to improve their customer flow as well they could take other steps, like giving out tickets with a number rather than asking for our names and typing them into the system. At rush hour I swear one could spend 20-25 minutes in line.

I like it, but it might discourage me from drinking coffee as well.
I used to bring my thermus all the time before the set up and if I forgot it in my car I knew it wouldn’t have mattered, but now if I forget my thermus I might forgoe the coffee in the first place.
Meh, who am I kidding, my blood must be half caffiene half red cells by now.

I bet they don’t trust customers enough to allow self-service coffee. Behold :

All the coffee is freshly served. they ground it on demand and use espresso machines for everything, including americanos. So that system wouldn’t work anyway tbh...

And barge off back into the regular lane even when it’s cordoned off, when you see the regular lane shorter.

Oh, that definitely would put a damper on total throughput. That makes the econo-line ultimately superfluous — they won’t be able to grind and press enough coffee to make a differ
ence without adding more grinders,
presses, and employees to operate the grinders and presses
.

As long as I can feel smug for having a ECO COFFEE, why would it matter?

Well, HOV lanes don’t improve vehicle volume, but they do make the commute of those with the correct characteristics much shorter
